I help nonprofit executive leaders let go of what isn’t theirs to carry so they can lead with purpose, deepen their mission's impact, and find fulfillment in their work and lives

I Help Nonprofit CEOs and Executive Directors become resilient by teaching them how to let go of what isn’t theirs to carry.

You are not burned out because you’re not resilient enough. You may be burned out because your version of resilience has taught you to carry things that aren’t yours. More often than not, we're taught that resilience means pushing through, carrying more, and holding everything together no matter the cost. For nonprofit leaders, caregivers, and high-achieving professionals, this belief often runs deep—until our nervous systems can no longer sustain the weight we're carrying. The truth is, real resilience isn't about enduring more—it's about knowing what we were never meant to carry in the first place.

I help audiences redefine resilience in a way that protects both purpose and well-being. Through personal storytelling, research, and practical strategies, I show leaders how to build the kind of strength that doesn't lead to burnout but instead creates a foundation for lasting impact and a meaningful life.

Learn how to lead your mission without burning out in Pam's "impact story" session, recorded at the Montana Nonprofit Association's annual conference

Meet Pamella

Pamella speaks to nonprofit CEOs, Executive Directors, and Boards about redefining resilience in a way that protects both purpose and wellbeing.

Drawing from lived experience and evidence-based research, she helps leaders recognize the hidden costs of over-functioning and put down what was never theirs to carry. Her work empowers people to lead, serve, and succeed without sacrificing themselves in the process—creating a foundation for lasting impact and a more meaningful life.

Pamella has spent nearly 30 years leading mission driven organisations. A lifelong Montanan and advocate for nervous system-informed leadership, she brings a practitioner’s eye to how well-intentioned governance and funding practices can unintentionally push executives toward overfunctioning and isolation, and to what it looks like when organizations share that weight instead of leaving one person to carry it alone.

Pamella is a storyteller, and baseball lover, and her most recent accomplishment has been perfecting milk foam for her morning espresso.

Pamella's  Talks

The Paradox of Resilience:
How to Lead Fully While Carrying Less
Keynote or Workshop

Nonprofit Executive Directors and CEOs know what it means to give everything—managing staff, stewarding donors, navigating boards, maintaining compliance, protecting the organization's public voice—all while carrying the weight of a mission that never fully clocks out. For many nonprofit leaders, pushing through is simply how the work gets done.

In this presentation, Pamella offers a new definition of resilience—one built not on endurance, but on discernment. Drawing from her own experience leading a nonprofit through seven years of compounding crises, she shows audiences how to distinguish between what's truly theirs to carry and what isn't, and why that distinction is what separates leaders who last from leaders who burn out.

I speak to nonprofit leaders about the hidden cost of over-functioning - and how leaders can build sustainable resilience without becoming less committed to their mission.
